In this course, we teach the design computational models for the mechanics of continuous media and for solving diagnostic problems encountered in engineering. Develop computational models based on mechanics of continuous media and apply them to different areas of civil engineering, including soil and rock mechanics, structural analysis, hydrology and water resources, ports and coastal systems.
The course provides the elements to understand the basic tools for the analysis and solution of different types of flows, from the ideal to the viscous flow, contrasting the numerical results with the experiments.
We teach mathematical modelling, numerical solution with computers and analysis of results, through the solution of several particular problems of interest in engineering and applied sciences
Mathematical resources are provided to understand natural environmental processes, with special emphasis on functions of several variables, ordinary differential equations and numerical methods for nonlinear equations, as well as some basic programming notions.
This course covers the essential theoretical and practical aspects of the numerical approximation of partial differential equations modeling flow problems, specifically focusing on Euler and Navier-Stokes equations
